Get a Healthy, Beautiful Smile with Full-Mouth Reconstruction in Carmel

lady smiling with full mouth reconstruction

Sometimes, teeth whitening simply isn’t enough to achieve a beautiful, healthy smile.

Some patients require full-mouth reconstruction.

Oral reconstruction is necessary for patients who have severely damaged teeth, missing teeth, misalignment of the teeth and/or jaw, and other jaw conditions, like:

  • A narrow palate
  • TMJ disorder
  • An overbite, underbite, or crossbite.

What's involved in the process of dental reconstruction?

What Does Full-Mouth Reconstruction in Carmel Entail?

Dr. Balaban has been practicing cosmetic and restorative dentistry for over 15 years. He has the knowledge and experience necessary to provide you with a beautiful, healthy smile.

Patients in his care who require full-mouth reconstruction will go through three phases of care.

Restorative Procedures

before and after

To start, your Carmel dentist will take care of any issues pertaining to your oral health. These can include:

  • Addressing tooth infections with root canal therapy or extractions
  • Removing dental decay or extracting teeth that cannot be repaired
  • Dental implants to replace missing teeth
  • Bone grafts and/or sinus lifts for implant placement
  • Arresting periodontal (gum) disease with periodontal surgery or deep cleanings (scaling and root planing).

Once those issues have been addressed, the next step is to fix function issues. These issues relate to how well your jaw joints, facial/neck muscles, and teeth work together. If anything is standing in the way of optimal function, your dentist will address them.

Your dentist might recommend:

  • Reconstructive jaw surgery
  • Dental crowns, which can be used to correct tooth misalignment
  • Braces (Invisalign, ClearCorrect, or 6-month braces)
  • Orthodontic procedures to correct overbites, underbites, crossbites, and/or a narrow arch.

Cosmetic Procedures

The next phase of treatment is the fun phase – aesthetics!

During this phase, your treatment plan might include:

You and your dentist will work together to determine the shade you want your teeth to be, in addition to the overall aesthetics of your cosmetic reconstruction.

Maintenance

You don't want to spend all that time and money on reconstruction and not take care of your investment.

Floss and brush your teeth daily. Use an electric toothbrush for a more thorough cleaning. Visit your dentist at least twice a year for cleanings and dental exams. If you have a history of periodontal disease, see your dentist every three-to-four months for periodontal maintenance visits.

Are You a Good Candidate for Oral Reconstruction?

Not everyone is a good candidate for reconstruction due to their dental or general health. However, this doesn't mean that your Carmel cosmetic dentist can't help you get a beautiful smile. Talk to your dental team to find out which procedures will work best for your needs and current health circumstances.
